David Short, Managing Partner, welcomed the initiative of the Scottish Government to support a Holyrood Bill allowing sufferers of the asbestos condition known as pleural plaques to continue to receive personal injury compensation.
A previous House of Lords Decision last year found that the condition should not give rise to any compensation. David commented:- “I was very concerned at the House of Lord’s ruling about pleural plaques stating that plaques on the lung should not give rise any more to compensation claims. Sufferers of this condition have the ordeal of knowing their lungs have been affected by asbestos and they are at risk of contracting a serious asbestos disease. I therefore thoroughly support the Government’s initiative.”
